CHDF was started in the year 2008 back in Korogocho as a centre to reach out to children with disabilities from poor families who are affected by disabilities, most abandoned and orphaned even by HIV/AIDS. It is operating on as a Community based organization and is serving 30 children with mental and physical disabilities.
CHDF is operating on the basis of charity through provisions of services such as education, occupational therapy, feeding programme and medical help to the children.
To enable persons with disability overcome their limitation and empower them socially, spiritually and intellectually to become self reliant in the community.
To empower the community members through awareness creation on disability issues and offering effective and efficient services to children with intellectual disability.
OBJECTIVES OF THE HOME
- To provide basic needs like shelter, food, clothing and medication for the 30 children in the home.
- To offer occupational therapy for the 30 children with special needs
- To create awareness on the vision and mission of compassionate hands for the disabled foundation.
- To initiate income generating activities like farming, rabbit rearing and chicken keeping to promote the livelihoods of the children.
